Martin Meyer Safaris Announces Exclusive Privately Guided Founder-Led Botswana Safari for March 2027

HOEDSPRUIT, SOUTH AFRICA — Martin Meyer Safaris has announced a new Founder-Led Botswana Safari departing on 21 March 2027. Personally hosted by company founders Martin and Antje Meyer, the 10-night journey will be limited to just six guests and will explore three of Botswana’s most contrasting wilderness regions.

Beginning in Johannesburg and concluding in Kasane, the journey combines three nights at Leroo La Tau on the Boteti River, three nights at Camp Moremi in the Moremi Game Reserve and three nights at Savute Safari Lodge in Chobe National Park. The first night will be spent at City Lodge Hotel O.R. Tambo before the group flies into Botswana.

The safari is priced at US$10,350 per person sharing, including all specified regional and internal flights. Single accommodation is not available, and all reservations will be accepted on a shared-room basis.

The departure forms part of the growing Martin Meyer Safaris Founder-Led Safari Series: a collection of intimate African journeys personally designed, hosted and guided by Martin and Antje.

“This is not a safari where we plan the itinerary, hand guests a travel wallet and wave goodbye,” said Martin Meyer, founder and specialist private guide at Martin Meyer Safaris. “We travel alongside the group throughout the journey. We share the flights, game drives, meals, sightings and stories—and, because there are only six guests, we have the time to understand what each person hopes to experience.”

A Journey from Desert to Delta

The safari has been designed around the striking ecological contrasts of northern Botswana.

The first wilderness stop is Leroo La Tau, situated above the Boteti River on the western boundary of Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. The Boteti is the principal outflow of the Okavango Delta and provides an important source of water for elephants, zebras, wildebeest, antelope and predators moving through the surrounding dry landscapes.

From the Boteti, the group will fly north to Camp Moremi in the Moremi Game Reserve, where floodplains, lagoons, woodland and seasonal waterways support an exceptional diversity of wildlife. Scheduled activities include land-based game drives and, subject to water levels and local conditions, motorised boat excursions through the channels surrounding Xakanaxa.

The final three nights will be spent at Savute Safari Lodge in Chobe National Park. Savute is known for its large elephant population, predator encounters and the mysterious Savute Channel, which has flowed and dried repeatedly over generations with little apparent regard for what geologists—or anyone else—think it ought to be doing.

Each region changes the way you look, listen and photograph. Botswana rewards patience. It is not a country that performs on command, which is precisely why the experiences feel so genuine.”

Botswana’s Green Season

The March departure has been deliberately timed to coincide with Botswana’s green season.

Summer rainfall transforms the dry landscape, producing green vegetation, dramatic skies and particularly rewarding photographic conditions. Migratory birds remain in the region, many antelope species are raising their young and the abundance of vulnerable young animals can generate strong predator activity.

Although Botswana’s dry winter season is traditionally the best-known travel period, Martin Meyer Safaris believes the green season offers a more atmospheric and nuanced experience.

“Botswana in March is alive,” Antje said. “The skies are dramatic, the landscape is green and the birdlife is exceptional. There may be an afternoon thunderstorm and there may be mud. Fortunately, neither has yet caused the collapse of civilisation. For travellers who want atmosphere, fewer vehicles and a different perspective on Botswana, it is a remarkable time to visit.”

Personally Hosted by Both Founders

Martin and Antje Meyer will accompany the group from Johannesburg through Botswana and remain with guests until the journey concludes in Kasane.

Martin brings decades of professional safari guiding experience and specialist knowledge of African wildlife and animal behaviour. Antje contributes expertise in photography, conservation, storytelling and guest care, helping guests understand and preserve the journey through meaningful imagery.

Professional local guides will conduct the scheduled lodge activities, with Martin and Antje joining the group to provide additional wildlife interpretation, photography assistance and continuity throughout the journey.

The six-person group limit is central to the concept. It allows greater personal interaction, more meaningful guiding and a relaxed group dynamic that would be difficult to achieve on a conventional scheduled tour.

The safari is suitable for both first-time visitors to Africa and experienced safari travellers seeking a more personal journey. Photographers of every ability are welcome, although the departure is not exclusively a photographic safari.

All Specified Flights Included

The package includes the regional flight from Johannesburg into Botswana, scheduled light-aircraft transfers between the safari lodges and the final flight from Savute to Kasane.

Accommodation, scheduled lodge activities, applicable park fees and meals and beverages specified by the individual properties are also included.

International flights to Johannesburg, onward arrangements from Kasane, travel insurance, gratuities and personal expenses are excluded.

Guests wishing to continue to the Chobe River or Victoria Falls may request a separately arranged extension.
