A rare small-group journey through Arusha, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti, personally hosted by Martin and Antje Meyer

Martin Meyer Safaris has announced the launch of its Founder-Led Tanzania Safari, an intimate privately guided group journey taking place from 10–22 September 2027. Hosted personally by founders Martin and Antje Meyer, the safari has been designed for travellers who want a deeper, more personal way to experience one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations.

The 13-day journey combines the legendary landscapes of Ngorongoro Crater, the Southern Serengeti and the Central Serengeti, with time in Arusha at the start of the safari. Created for a minimum of eight travellers, the itinerary offers the rare opportunity to travel through Tanzania in the company of two experienced safari hosts whose lives and careers have been shaped by Africa’s wild places.

“This safari is not about rushing from sighting to sighting,” says Martin Meyer, Founder and Specialist Guide at Martin Meyer Safaris. “It is about slowing down, understanding the landscapes, reading the wildlife, sharing stories around the campfire and allowing Tanzania to unfold properly. That is where the real magic of safari lives.”

The Founder-Led Tanzania Safari includes one night in Arusha, three nights at Ngorongoro Crater, four nights in the Southern Serengeti and four nights in the Central Serengeti. Guests will enjoy private game-drive vehicles throughout the safari, all game drives, two expert guides, a complimentary welcome dinner in Arusha and a photographic Dropbox of safari images after the journey.

Martin Meyer will lead the safari as private specialist guide, bringing decades of guiding experience, wildlife knowledge and storytelling to the journey. Antje Meyer will accompany the group as private photography guide, supporting guests who want to capture stronger, more meaningful safari images while also helping host the journey from start to finish.

“For us, a founder-led safari is deeply personal,” says Antje Meyer, Co-Founder of Martin Meyer Safaris. “Guests are not joining a packaged tour. They are travelling with us — through places we love, in a way that feels connected, considered and honest. Tanzania gives us the perfect setting for that kind of experience.”

September is a powerful time to experience Tanzania, with excellent wildlife viewing opportunities across the Serengeti ecosystem and the dramatic natural theatre of Ngorongoro Crater. Guests can expect the possibility of seeing lions, elephants, leopards, cheetahs, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, hyenas, hippos and exceptional birdlife, while also experiencing the atmosphere, culture and scale that make Tanzania one of Africa’s most unforgettable safari destinations.

The safari has been created for travellers who value authenticity, expert guiding, meaningful connection and the reassurance of being hosted by the people behind the brand. With a deliberately limited group size, the journey allows for more personal interaction, greater flexibility, better photographic opportunities and a more immersive safari experience than a large scheduled tour.
