Short Safari Is Becoming a Trip of Its Own

GREATER KRUGER, South Africa, August 2026, A shorter safari does not have to be treated as the incomplete version of a longer itinerary. Bundox Safari Co. is taking a different approach through Wild Escapes, a collection of seasonal safari getaways built around selected camps, defined travel periods and a minimum two-night stay.

While longer safari packages are often designed around multiple properties, transfers and a wider range of activities, Wild Escapes focuses on giving travellers enough time to settle into one camp and experience the Greater Kruger without adding unnecessary movement.

The first Wild Escapes are available at Bundox Explorer Camp and Khanya Tented Camp. The Khanya getaway is available from August 2026 through February 2027, while the Explorer Camp getaway begins in November 2026 and continues through February 2027. Current special rates are available to qualifying SADC residents, subject to availability and the conditions attached to each getaway. The two-night format is central to the collection. A single overnight stay can be dominated by arrival, check-in and departure. Two nights create a full day between those travel periods, allowing guests to experience the camp at a slower safari pace.

Depending on the selected getaway and confirmed inclusions, travellers may have time for safari activities, meals, quiet periods in camp and an evening in the bush without immediately preparing to move to another property. This makes Wild Escapes relevant to a different type of safari traveller. Couples may use the getaway for a short break together. Friends may include it in a regional road trip. Repeat safari travellers may want to return to the Greater Kruger without rebuilding a longer itinerary, while first-time visitors can add a focused bush stay to a broader South African holiday. The format may also suit travellers visiting family, attending an event or spending time elsewhere in Limpopo or Mpumalanga.

For travel advisors, Wild Escapes offers a clearer short-stay option for clients who have limited time but still want a safari to feel like a meaningful part of the journey. Rather than trying to compress several camps into two or three nights, agents can recommend one selected property and protect more of the client’s time for the actual stay.
