Two Photographers, Six Guests: Martin Meyer Safaris Announces Southern Africa Photographic Safari for March 2027

GREATER KRUGER, SOUTH AFRICA — Martin Meyer Safaris has announced its Southern Africa Photographic Safari, departing from 20 to 31 March 2027. Limited to six guests and personally guided throughout by Martin Meyer and Antje Mouton, the journey combines wildlife photography, dedicated photographic hides, coastal landscapes, cultural experiences and Victoria Falls.

Priced at US$12,720 per person sharing, the safari brings together two photographic guides, private safari vehicles, scheduled domestic and regional flights, accommodation and an extensive programme of included activities. Its central promise is personal attention: a maximum of six travellers sharing the experience and expertise of two hosts across the entire journey.

Photographic expertise that begins with understanding the subject

Martin brings more than 20 years of safari guiding experience and a photographer’s understanding of what makes a wildlife encounter translate into a compelling image. His work has included supporting teams from National Geographic, Animal Planet and Discovery Channel.

For guests, that experience has practical value. Recognising a change in an animal’s posture, anticipating movement and understanding when to remain patient can create opportunities that camera knowledge alone cannot provide. Working alongside the local guiding team, Martin helps guests interpret unfolding behaviour and consider light, backgrounds and photographic positioning.

Antje brings her own extensive safari experience and photographic perspective. Her photographs have featured in the UK’s National Geographic Traveller Safari edition, while her conservation fieldwork has included participation in rhino dehorning and wildlife collaring operations.

Throughout the journey, she provides practical guidance on camera settings, composition, movement and changing light. Beginners can build confidence with familiar equipment, while experienced photographers can discuss creative approaches and develop their own images.

Together, Martin and Antje offer complementary expertise that continues beyond the wildlife reserve, adapting to each destination and each guest’s interests.

An itinerary designed to broaden the photographic experience

The journey begins with an overnight stay in Johannesburg, allowing guests to settle in and meet their hosts before travelling to Karongwe Private Game Reserve.

Four nights at Becks Safari Lodge provide time to develop wildlife photography through repeated outings. Twice-daily game drives in vehicles reserved for the group are complemented by included daily three-hour photographic hide excursions, with two different hides adding alternative perspectives.

Four nights in Cape Town follow, with three full-day excursions introducing a different range of subjects. The city tour includes Table Mountain, weather permitting, the Bo-Kaap and a graffiti walking tour. The Cape Peninsula excursion explores Cape Point, Boulders and the coastline around Misty Cliffs, while the Winelands day combines vineyard scenery with tastings at three estates and a wine-paired lunch.

The final two nights are spent at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge. A guided visit to the Falls, a Zambezi sunset cruise and a morning river cruise offer opportunities to photograph water, wildlife, birds and the changing character of the river.
